Get Started with Daylight

Install Daylight from the Atlassian Marketplace, then log time on a Jira issue. Your entries are native Jira worklogs, and the app runs on Atlassian Forge.

Install Daylight (Jira admins)

  1. Open Apps → Explore more apps in Jira.
  2. Search for Daylight Time Tracking & Timesheets for Jira.
  3. Open the listing.
  4. Select Get it now or Try it free.
  5. Review the permissions and complete the installation.

Daylight uses your Atlassian account. You do not need a separate account or an external server.

Daylight is free for Jira sites with up to 10 users. Larger sites get a 30-day trial. See the Marketplace pricing for your site's user count and billing cycle.

Log your first time entry

  1. Open a Jira issue.
  2. Find the Daylight panel.
  3. Select Start timer.
  4. When you finish the task, select Stop & log.

Daylight saves the elapsed time as a Jira worklog under your account. For a known duration, the 15m, 30m, 1h, and 2h buttons add that time immediately.

For a custom duration, note, or different date, use My Timesheet.

Review your week

Open Daylight from Jira's Apps menu. My Timesheet shows your entries by issue and day. Select a cell to add time, edit an entry, or add a note.

If your organization enables approvals, you can submit your completed week or month for review.

Review team hours

Approvers and admins can open the Team tab for monthly hours by person and project. The coverage card shows who has logged or submitted time. CSV exports provide the totals for billing or payroll.
